Infant Hour

I am a little behind on Dylan’s happenings, and I hope to get caught up in the next couple of posts…

On Friday, Dylan, Kyle and I attended infant hour at my school. The Early Childhood Education teacher invited us to be “guest speakers.” Basically, we sat at the front of the room and the students observed Dylan and asked me questions about him.

Some of the questions I remember are -

  • Are you getting much sleep?
  • How often does he eat?
  • Has your life changed much from before you had Dylan to now?
  • Is this your first baby?
  • Were you scared to have the baby?

The students asked some good questions and got to observe a couple of other infants as well. A nine month old baby and his mother were there, Dylan was the three month old baby, and Sarah brought Brynleigh to fill the a little over one month old baby. The purpose was to let the students observe things like baby reflexes at a variety of stages since they have been studying infants.

It was an interesting experience. I am hoping that hearing that having a baby is not all fun and games, will make the students think twice before getting pregnant young.

Here are a couple of photos from our experience. Dylan was very good the whole time!

Here is a photo of Dylan and Brynleigh eating in front of the class.

And here we are once the students had gone. As you can see, the room is pretty fun. I think Dylan would like to visit again when he is old enough to play on the equipment.
