Baby Mama Drama

Yesterday at school I started having some “issues.” I became a little light-headed, almost fell down, and my feet and ankles blew up to about twice their normal size, so I decided to come home. Then at about 3:00pm my contractions began. They were very slow and inconsistent at first and became increasingly more regular and harder (although never painful). Around 10:00pm we decided to head to the hospital because the contractions were pretty consistent… that is… until we got to the hospital.

Once we got to the hospital, they nearly stopped. They hooked me up to a monitor and we tracked Dylan’s heartbeat and my contractions. Dylan’s heartbeats were regular and all was well there. My contractions, on the other hand, were not regular and were not hard. They checked me out and I was dilated to a 1 and 80% effaced which is where I have been for a week. We stayed until about 1:30am and they kept an eye on everything but there were no changes so they sent me home. So, after about 10 hours of contractions… no change.

So, I am home today because I am still have contractions (inconsistent and not hard) and I can barely walk because the baby has dropped so low, so I would be of no use at work. Apparently my leave starts today instead of Monday.

I am VERY happy that all is well with Dylan, and he is not under any undue stress, but I am a little disappointed that he is not here now. Kyle and I got pretty excited last night, but I guess Dylan was not ready to make his debut just yet.

On a happier note, I received my cute and SUPER SOFT lamb slippers that I ordered from Bath and Bodyworks to take to the hospital with me. They even have little grips on the bottom so I don’t slip and fall which is always a plus.

Here they are on my feet.  I kind of love them.

I also received a box from Kyle’s stepmother and his dad with some Christmas presents for baby Dylan. Each present was individually wrapped, so I put them under the tree to save for Christmas (which is REALLY difficult for me to do because I like to open presents right away).

So, everything is still well, but there is no baby yet… but if Dylan doesn’t come over the weekend, then Kyle and I are scheduled to show up at the hospital at 6:00am on Monday morning to be induced (me not Kyle). :) So, we only have a few more days to wait!

  1. Sleep.

If you think it would be too hard to do now, just wait until Tuesday morning.

    Sleep.

  2. John,

I am sleeping as much as I can, but it gets tiresome after awhile. :) But, I am sure I will be begging for sleep at some point.

If you plan to make it to 8, you better start incorporating some multiples in there, but you are off to a good start!
